BBQ Case 2020

Seriti Shiraz – South Africa

Wow, the best Seriti Shiraz we’ve ever made, this absolutely reflects the super fantastic vintage. It is proof of how far South African reds have come in the past 10 years. It’s fresh, vibrant, positively thrumming with sappy wiry fruit with a bright mineral palate, cranberry fruit and a long, essential finish. This wine was made with the barbecue in mind, it's a great partner to homemade burgers or sticky spare ribs.

Benjamin Malbec Nieto - Argentina

Purple red in colour, bright and intense. Fresh fruity aromas of plum and cherry. Balanced in the mouth with a pleasant finish. Great with cheese, pasta and poultry dishes.

Chapelle Marin Cotes du Rhone – France Vegetarian & Vegan

A proper Cotes du Rhone with attractive, bramble fruit and floral aromas, the palate is up-front and fresh with warm spice and real depth. This is a classic southern Rhône red; ripe and characterful with smooth supple tannins. Lovely with a BBQ; grilled meats, halloumi and vegetables. Herby sausages, pasta with Mediterranean vegetables.

Pedrera Monastrell – Spain Vegetarian & Vegan

Appealing aromas of dark red cherry and ripe plum. A bright, fruit-forward style with plush bramble, plum and mocha characters, wrapped up in smooth, rounded tannins. Perfect with pasta, pizza, red meats and casseroles

Conviviale Montepulciano d’Abruzzo – Italy Vegetarian & Vegan

An intense wine with cherry, ripe plum fruit aromas and warm, earthy spice. The palate is densely packed with morello cherry, cassis and bramble fruit flavours. Tannins are ripe, giving structure to a substantial wine with a fresh sappy finish. A fantastic pasta wine.

Helter Skelter Merlot – USA Vegetarian & Vegan

Darkly plummy, soft and juicy, classically varietal, old vine Lodi Merlot. A nose of Victoria plums with leafy notes. The palate is refined with crunchy fruit shining through and leads to a gently fine & grippy finish. Classic dirty burger juice.

Lucha Rocosa Carignan – Chile Vegetarian & Vegan

Our wine is edgy, with good acidity and tannins but also has a lovely purity of blackberry and mulberry fruit. It has a long, fresh finish leaving you wanting more! This needs to be paired with gutsy, rustic food - cassoulet, slow-cooked shoulder of lamb with herbs and garlic, spicy bean casserole.

Silver Myn Cabernet Franc Rosé – South Africa Vegetarian

This is 100% Cabernet Franc rose from the slopes of Stellenbosch's Simonsburg Mountain. With its high natural acidity, leafy nose and slight texture, this makes for a great all-rounder with a variety of cuisine. Great with anything with a shell, prosciutto and herby veg dishes.

Il Meridone Grillo – Sicily Vegetarian & Vegan

A ripe and spicy nose with floral and stone fruit characters. The palate has more honeyed stone fruit and savoury notes backed by fresh citrus acidity. White fish, grilled octopus, or a chicken caesar salad.

Fauno Blanco Valencia Mouvedre – Spain

Lifted peach aromas with lemon and floral notes. The palate is bright and fresh with stone fruit and citrus characters, and refreshing acidity on the finish. Great with salads, fish dishes & vegetable paella

Los Ostros Pinot Grigio – Chile Vegetarian & Vegan

Deliciously different for Chile, but classically pebbly PG. Really 'right and proper' stone fruit characters on the nose & palate. Much more flavoursome than other PGs you'll find out there - it’s delicious with ripe apple and pear flavours, with a crisp juicy finish on the palate. Great with Malaysian curry, creamy pork dishes and cheese & onion tart.

El Viejo de Valle Sauvignon Gris – Chile Vegetarian & Vegan

Translated as ‘The Old Man of the Valley’ this celebrates the 1950s Chilean street graffiti. A fresh aroma of waxy lemons, lime and grapefruit with a hint of frangapani. Fresh and clean on the palate with invigorating acidity. Lovely with BBQ garlic prawns or salmon, grilled oysters, and poached white fish with summer salads containing parsley, pepper or lemon.

Summer Case 2020

Vila Nova Loureiro – Portugal Vegetarian & Vegan

Ripe citrus and delicately tropical aromas lead onto a textural, mineral palate with bright acidity, mandarin characters & appealing finish. A good match for Caesar/Tuna Nicoise salads, or crab cakes.

Bottega Vinai Trentino Pinot Grigio – Italy Vegetarian & Vegan

Lightly honeyed spicy nose with distinct floral, apple and citrus notes. Added complexity from white spice, honey and almond characters. On the palate it shows ripe fruit and lightly nutty flavours balanced by crisp, lemony acidity. Excellent with seafood risottos, baked fish and cold white meats.

Kardos Dry Furmint - Hungary

This winery ticks so many boxes... tiny and family owned, steeped in history, from Tokaj – the oldest classified wine region in Europe. Notes of grapefruit, pear & lime, which follow through on the palate. Dry & beautifully crisp with an elegant minerality which keeps the wine in balance. With a refreshing bitter edge on the finish. Perfect as an apertif, or try with seafood linguine, salads & cheese.

Boutinot ‘La Fleur Solitaire’ Cotes du Rhone Blanc – France Vegetarian & Vegan

Proper white Côtes du Rhône; fresh, medium-bodied, vinous. The nose is pretty and delicate, with a waft of fennel tops and hints of hedgerow flowers. The flavours are nuanced and refined rather than overt. Careful use of oak adds texture and structure without masking the freshness of this very drinkable white. A lovely apéritif, or with light starters and grilled fish.

Tabali Pedregoso Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc – Chile Vegetarian & Vegan

Intense, complex and elegant on the nose with citric notes and gentle green pepper aromas. The palate shows great volume with crisp, high acidity giving chalky minerality and a fresh, long, fruity finish.

Great with fresh fish dishes such as sushi or carpaccio of tuna.

Il Cascione Leccio Monferato Chiaretto – Italy Vegetarian & Vegan

Pretty pale pink in colour. The nose is lifted with cherry, raspberry and gently floral notes. The palate balances tangy cherry and red berry fruit with crisp, incisive acidity. A delicious style of pale rosé which has plenty of summer fruit character balanced by great texture. A good match with basil and goats’ cheese risotto, or pasta with a seafood sauce and cherry tomatoes.

El Viejo de Valle Pinot Noir – Chile Vegetarian & Vegan

‘The Old Man of the Valley’ celebrates the 1950s Chilean street graffiti. Summer fruits of red currant, raspberry and wild strawberries on the nose follow through to a juicy palate. A touch of oak adds spice complexity. Try with finger-licking marinated ribs, pink lamb and roasted veggies, mushroom and chicken risotto.

Domaine Mas Barrau Cabernet Franc – Chile Vegetarian & Vegan & Organic

Textured and luxurious this is a sophisticated Cabernet Franc from Gard. There is a wild 'after the rain' woodland perfume. The palate is incredibly long and layered with bramble fruit, bay and a touch of sweet prune on the finish. Juicy lamb shanks, rich tomato based dishes laced with roasted garlic and pepper or marinated. Alternatively savour it at the end of the meal over a good cheeseboard.

Uggiano ‘La Scoperta’ Chianti Riserva – Italy Vegetarian & Vegan

Vibrant black fruit aromas with a touch of spice. On the palate layers of ripe plum, blackcurrant and juicy black cherry balance spicy, developed flavours. A well-structured and complex wine with ripe tannins and bright acidity on the finish. Drink with rich casseroles and roast meats

Prisma Organic Monastrel – Spain Vegetarian & Vegan & Organic & Sustainable

Complex nose of ripe plums and rich red fruit, with notes of fig. On the palate the wine is generous, rich and spicy - with concentrated red and black fruit, supple tannins, and fresh acidity on the finish. Drink this with grilled meat, dishes with creamy sauces or goats’ cheese.

Pablo y Walter Malbec – Argentina Vegetarian & Vegan

A really pure expression of Malbec, deep red almost purple in colour and wonderfully aromatic with lifted violet, red currant and cassis notes. Muy, muy fantasticó – richly bloody, vibrant, Latin and velveteen. A juicy steak, churrasco de chorizo marinated with garlic, parsley and olive oil, grilled vegetables with chimichurri sauce. Or try it chilled - seriously, a cool version of this wine opens up a whole new world!

Big Top Old Vines Zinfandel – USA

Aromas of vanilla, cracked black pepper and dark damson fruit. On the palate this wine is round and fleshy, beautifully balanced and packed full with robust red fruit flavours and a lick of oak. Great with roasts and BBQs

Percheron Chenin Blanc/Viognier - SOUTH AFRICA

Vibrant and aromatic with delicious subtle perfumed aromas with white peach and hints of jasmine on the nose. On the palate it has tight, white, fleshy stone fruit and fresh apricot flavours that balances the sandy texture. Bright acidity and minerality help to deliver a deliciously flavoursome and characteristic wine.

Cuvée Jean-Paul Sec - FRANCE

This is a deliciously aromatic, bright and zingy dry white. There’s a fresh nose of lime, basil, freshly cut green grass and guavas. The medium-bodied palate continues with more green fruits and flowers; figs and tobacco flowers. Vegetarian & Vegan

Palazzi Catarratto - ITALY

Ripe peach and tropical fruit aromas with a lightly herbal note. More stone fruit characters on the palate with hints of honey - finishing with fresh citrus acidity. Vegetarian & Vegan

El Tesoro Viura/Sauvignon Blanc - SPAIN

Fresh peach and citrus aromas follow onto the bright and fresh palate. Here ripe stone fruit and gooseberry notes combine with mineral characters to add texture.

Sierra Grande Sauvignon Blanc - CHILE 

Sourced from a vineyard nestled into the Andes in the Curico region, this Sauvignon Blanc displays the vibrant fruit of Chile’s Central Valley but with elegance from its mountain terroir. Percheron Old Vine Cinsault - SOUTH AFRICA

Andes Peaks Merlot - CHILE

A fabulous value, classic merlot from the Central Valley. Deep ruby-red in colour, with a nose that presents aromas of red fruits, such as strawberries, some spice notes, and a light touch of coffee. The palate is nicely balanced with sweet, well-rounded tannins, good volume, and a long finish.

Vega Piedra Rioja - SPAIN

A great value classic Rioja from selected vineyards in Rioja Alta. Approachable, appealing and juicy in style with lifted red berry fruit and hints of spice. The palate is bright with bramble and cherry fruit and gently rounded tannins. Nicely-balanced with a long finish.
